Hi there! I've carefully checked the figures regarding Spain's demographic changes, and the claim is TRUE. Over the last 24 years, Spain has experienced a massive increase in its foreign-born population 4. In 2001, this group made up a small fraction of the total residents (approximately 3.4%), but by January 2025, it had grown to roughly 19.3% 4 10. Statistics from the National Statistics Institute (INE) show that by April 2025, Spain’s total population reached 49.15 million 8, while the number of residents born abroad surpassed the 10 million mark 10. This growth was driven by high immigration volumes, such as the arrival of nearly 479,000 new residents in just the first half of 2022 alone 9. These figures confirm the claim that the foreign-born population has shifted from a small minority to almost one in five residents today 4 10.
