“Bobi was the oldest dog ever recorded.”
HIGH CONFIDENCE
TL;DR ·Guinness World Records stripped Bobi of his title after finding inconclusive evidence of his age.
While Bobi was initially crowned the oldest dog ever by Guinness World Records (GWR) in February 2023 , he was officially stripped of the title in February 2024 . Following his death in October 2023 at the alleged age of 31, GWR launched an investigation due to mounting doubts from veterinarians and researchers . The investigation concluded that there was no conclusive evidence to definitively prove Bobi's date of birth, leading GWR to determine they could no longer retain him as the record holder . Specifically, government databases and microchip data were found to be insufficient to confirm the owner's claim that Bobi was born in 1992 .
