WHAT WE FOUND
Hello! I've looked into this for you, and it turns out the claim is true. Multiple studies, including those from the Pew Research Center, show that confidence in the U.S. dropped sharply during Donald Trump's time in office . By 2025 and 2026, many of America's closest allies—including Canada, Australia, Germany, and France—reported a shift toward mostly unfavorable views of the United States . It's quite a change, as these nations previously held more positive opinions . In fact, by May 2026, one survey even found that global perceptions of the U.S. had fallen below those of Russia . This trend was seen across the majority of countries surveyed, where more than half of the public expressed a lack of confidence in his leadership .
