“Dan Bongino predicted that the handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files would be Donald Trump's 'Iran-Contra.'”
TL;DR ·Bongino warned that the administration's Epstein file management would mirror the Iran-Contra scandal.
Reporting indicates that former Deputy FBI Director Dan Bongino predicted the Trump administration's handling of Jeffrey Epstein files would become the president's 'Iran-Contra' . This warning was reportedly documented by journalists Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan . The prediction followed a July 2025 Justice Department memo announcing that no further documents related to Epstein would be released . Bongino's stance caused significant internal conflict within the administration . He reportedly stormed out of the Situation Room during messaging discussions and engaged in a public clash with official Pam Bondi over the decision to withhold records . President Trump personally attempted to intervene to calm the uproar caused by the fallout . The controversy eventually led to the passage of the Epstein Files Transparency Act in November 2025 .
