“Donald Trump was indicted for pressuring Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger to investigate election integrity in Georgia.”
TL;DR ·Trump was indicted for attempting to overturn election results, not just requesting a standard investigation.
Hello! It is important to clarify that while Donald Trump was indeed indicted in Georgia, the claim that he was simply asking for an investigation into 'election integrity' is misleading . According to several sources, the indictment followed a recorded phone call where the former president pressured Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger to 'find 11,780' votes—the exact number needed to overturn his loss in Georgia . Legal experts and Georgia officials noted that these actions went far beyond a request for a simple investigation; the grand jury charged him with racketeering and election subversion as part of a scheme to change the election outcome . While Trump used the language of integrity, official audits and investigations by Republican state officials found no evidence of systematic voter fraud . Secretary Raffensperger even described the pressure during the call as a threat . So, while the indictment is real, the reason for it was the effort to subvert the election results rather than a routine request for integrity .
