While there are approximately seven total passages often cited regarding same-sex behavior, the specific term abomination (Hebrew: toevah) is only used in relation to homosexual acts in two verses: Leviticus 18:22 and Leviticus 20:13 . The term toevah actually appears 117 times in the Old Testament to describe a variety of actions . Other behaviors labeled as an abomination include eating certain types of seafood or various forms of idolatry . Biblical scholarship indicates that the book of Leviticus is the only place in the Bible where such relations are clearly prohibited and described with this specific term .
