FACT CHECK #O9OU86UL

WHAT WE FOUND

The claim is accurate. NASA states that Hubble was launched April 24, 1990, aboard Space Shuttle Discovery's STS-31 mission 1. A second NASA page also records the April 1990 launch 2. ESA's fact sheet confirms a 1990 launch on STS-31 into low-Earth orbit 6. Other sources agree: Kennedy Space Center 7, IEEE Photonics 8, CBS News 9, EBSCO 10, and Wikipedia 5. Britannica gives April 25, 1990 as the orbit placement date 11. This is a minor one-day discrepancy with NASA's April 24 launch date, and it does not affect the year. The high-credibility NASA sources outrank it. The year 1990 is well established.
