WHAT WE FOUND

As of June 30, 2026, Ford Motor Company has issued 51 recalls since the start of the year 7. These recalls collectively impact more than 11.27 million vehicles 2. Official data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) confirms that Ford leads all manufacturers in recall volume, with the next closest manufacturer, Chrysler, issuing only 19 recalls in the same period 7. Significant campaigns contributing to these totals include a 4.3 million vehicle recall for towing software defects and a 1.74 million vehicle recall involving faulty rear-view cameras 4 8. Many of these issues, particularly the largest campaigns, are being addressed via over-the-air software updates rather than physical repairs 4. This high volume follows a previous 12-month period in which Ford recalled nearly 20 million vehicles, nearly five times more than its nearest competitor 1.
