This collected environmental data is silently encoded into system prompts and sent to Anthropic's servers without the user's knowledge . The mechanism is reportedly used to trigger account suspensions and blacklist proxy networks used to access the service from within China . Following a researcher's public disclosure of this covert channel, Anthropic is reportedly rolling back the tracking feature due to developer backlash .
