“A person who has been struck by lightning is safe from being struck again.”
TL;DR ·Lightning frequently strikes the same location multiple times and provides no immunity to victims.
The claim that a lightning strike victim is safe from future strikes is false. Scientific evidence confirms that lightning can and often does strike the same place or object repeatedly, particularly if it is tall or isolated . While the odds of being struck are statistically low, with a lifetime risk of approximately 1 in 10,000 , experiencing a strike does not grant any form of immunity or safety from subsequent events. It is also noted that the human body does not store electricity after being struck , and lightning can still hit individuals even if they are near other structures or insulators . While reports of individuals being struck multiple times exist, surviving multiple direct strikes in rapid succession is considered highly unlikely due to the severe physical and cognitive trauma involved . Approximately one in 10 people hit by lightning is killed, but survivors remain susceptible to the same environmental risks as any other person .
