TL;DR ·A 21-year-old woman died after being launched for a rope jump without safety equipment.
On June 13, 2026, 21-year-old Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas died after falling from the Ponte do Esqueleto in Limeira, Brazil. According to reports from G1 and Estadão, she was launched from the bridge during a rope jump activity by staff who failed to attach her safety line. The Civil Police of São Paulo detained six individuals from the organizing companies, Entre Cordas and Ih Voei, for investigation into potential negligence or homicide. While the victim was physically pushed to initiate the jump, the incident was a catastrophic sporting accident rather than a criminal assault. Local emergency services confirmed her death at the scene shortly after the 40-meter fall.
