“President Eisenhower added a putting green to the White House.”
TL;DR ·President Eisenhower installed the first White House putting green on the south lawn in 1954.
President Dwight D. Eisenhower, described as an avid golfer, had a putting green installed on the White House lawn during his presidency . Multiple high-credibility sources, including the White House archives and the National Park Service, confirm the green was located on the South Lawn where Eisenhower practiced his putting and chipping . The project was completed in May 1954 with professional assistance from the United States Golf Association and was funded through private donations . The green was approximately 3,000 square feet and was situated just outside the Oval Office . While some rumors have incorrectly linked golf course modifications to other presidents, the historical record clearly attributes the original putting green to Eisenhower .
