“Barack Obama was the first President to be photographed smoking a joint.”
RECORD SILENT
TL;DR ·Evidence confirms Obama used marijuana, but no verified photograph of him smoking a joint exists.
While Barack Obama has openly admitted to using marijuana in his youth, there is no evidence that he was ever photographed smoking a joint . In his 1995 memoir Dreams from My Father, Obama disclosed that he smoked cannabis as a teenager in Hawaii . During his 2008 presidential campaign, he further clarified his past use by stating, 'When I was a kid, I inhaled frequently' . Biographical accounts, such as David Maraniss's Barack Obama: The Story, provide extensive details about his high school 'Choom Gang' and his habit of 'intercepting' joints . However, a widely circulated image that appeared to show Obama smoking a cigarette or joint was found to be a fake, doctored from an original 2004 photograph taken while he was a State Senator . While historians and journalists have identified at least 11 U.S. presidents who likely used cannabis in some form, none are documented as having been photographed in the act .
