WHAT WE FOUND

Hi! I'd love to help you clear this up. Based on the sources provided, we cannot fully confirm or deny this claim because there is a lack of data covering the specific timeframes and populations mentioned . We do know that during his first term in 2020, India's public generally viewed Donald Trump positively, though they were less enthusiastic about his specific trade policies . However, the more recent data from 2025 and 2026 provided here focuses almost exclusively on Indian Americans rather than the general public living in India . For example, a 2026 survey found that 71% of Indian Americans disapprove of Trump’s performance in his second term and are increasingly worried about US-India ties . Because these sources do not provide favorability ratings for the United States as a country among the general public within India for the periods before 2017 or between 2021 and 2024, the trend remains unverified .
