“Workers were photographed removing Donald J. Trump's name from a building named the 'Donald J. Trump Memorial Center'.”
TL;DR ·The building was misidentified and a viral removal video was proven to be AI-generated.
The claim is MISLEADING because it provides an incorrect name for the building and is often associated with fabricated media. The facility is the John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts, not the Donald J. Trump Memorial Center . Following a May 2026 court order, the name Donald J. Trump was indeed stripped from the building facade to restore the original lettering . While a New York Times photographer documented a worker pulling the letter A from the wall through a gap in protective tarps, high-credibility fact-checkers confirmed that a popular viral video of the removal was AI-generated . Journalists from the Associated Press and WTOP confirmed the removal by June 12, 2026, after observing the bare wall through openings in the scaffolding .
