While NASA predicts a 2028 recovery, Blue Origin's CEO claims flights resume in 2026.
“New Glenn will take until 2028 to rebuild”
It’s a bit of a mixed bag! While NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman has indicated that repairs to the launchpad damaged by the recent New Glenn explosion could potentially take until 2028 [1, 4, 7], Blue Origin is currently telling a different story. The company’s CEO, Dave Limp, recently shared that the damage was not as severe as initially thought and vowed that the New Glenn rocket will return to flight before the end of 2026 [5, 6, 8]. Some reports clarify that while the Vandenberg launchpad might indeed take until 2028 to be ready , Blue Origin still maintains an aggressive schedule to launch elsewhere this year . Because the claim only highlights the pessimistic NASA estimate and ignores the company's official 2026 goal, it presents an incomplete picture of the situation .
