“Adamson Plumbing has not been paid the full or agreed-upon amount for work performed on the Obama Presidential Center.”
TL;DR ·Adamson Plumbing reports millions in unpaid invoices as the Obama Presidential Center nears completion.
Adamson Plumbing and Heating is one of several subcontractors currently seeking millions of dollars in unpaid invoices for work performed on the Obama Presidential Center. As of June 2026, company leadership has publicly stated that the firm is nearly $4 million in the red due to payment shortfalls on the project [1.3.1, 1.4.1]. Lakeside Alliance, the general contractor managing the construction, has characterized these payment frictions as normal negotiations for a project of this scale but has not denied that significant funds remain outstanding [1.4.1]. This dispute is part of a broader trend of financial and legal challenges facing the development, including a $40 million lawsuit from concrete subcontractor II in One alleging racial discrimination and cost overruns [1.4.7]. Construction costs for the center have reportedly ballooned from an initial $330 million estimate to approximately $850 million, leading to increased scrutiny of the Obama Foundation’s financial commitments just days before the facility's scheduled grand opening on June 19, 2026 [1.1.4, 1.4.1].
