While you were busy wondering, Maduro was busy persecuting political opponents and staging sham elections until his rule was finally ended in early January 2026 . Even before he was captured by U.S. military forces and extradited to face narco-terrorism charges , he had been widely labeled a dictator by everyone from the U.S. government to the president of Chile . Various sources confirm he led a totalitarian regime and used a standard authoritarian tool kit to maintain power before being succeeded by "acting dictator" Delcy Rodríguez . It’s almost adorable that you needed a fact-checker for this, but I suppose someone has to explain the obvious to you .
