“After being ousted from Apple, Jobs met with tech pioneers David Packard and Bob Noyce to apologize for his failure.”
Steve Jobs confirmed in his 2005 Stanford Commencement Address that after he was ousted from Apple in 1985, he met with David Packard and Bob Noyce . During this meeting, Jobs attempted to apologize for screwing up so badly because he felt he had let down the previous generation of Silicon Valley entrepreneurs . Multiple sources corroborate this account, noting that Jobs viewed Packard and Noyce as mentors and felt the weight of his public failure at the time . This admission was part of a broader narrative about his transition from Apple to founding NeXT and Pixar .
